We took the bus last night and passed the border without incident. Had breakfast with Ernesto´s Mom and Dad, fresh figs from the garden.

I am happy to report that in Ernesto´s home town the mountain overlooking town is called (loosely transalted) "Campana´s hill of radio towers."

at the old house in the neighborhood at the northwest corner by mama java's my grandfather had three fig trees in his back yard. two purples and one green. he also had a pear tree, a navel orange, two peaches, and a grapefruit. it was a jungle. just a small back yard like any other tract house.

Hmm . . . what was his address? ;)

There are fig trees here and there around Arcadia, but I haven't found the nerve to ask their owners to share. I can often tell from ogling them that their fruit are harvested as soon as they're ripe, and probably not always by the trees' owners.
